Apply for this roleAbout Mona
Mona is building the agents behind family law. A team of AI agents reads every page of a case, follows every dollar across every account, and remembers every client interview, then turns it into the analysis, case strategy, and work product an attorney reviews and signs. We started with the financial side of divorce, the largest financial decision most families ever make.
We are a small team that works closely with the attorneys who use Mona, and we intend to stay small. We expect ownership, rigor, and honesty about what works and what does not yet, and we give people the trust and room to act on them.
About the role
As a Software Engineer, you will build the system Mona's agents run on: the ingestion that turns documents into evidence, the tools and checks the agents use, and the infrastructure that keeps every finding traceable to its source. You will write most of your code through coding agents and hold it to a high bar with tests and evaluations.
Responsibilities
- Build the ingestion that turns statements, returns, and interviews into structured, cited evidence
- Build the tools, guidance, and evaluations that make Mona's agents accurate and dependable
- Keep the system reliable, secure, and fast as firms and cases grow
- Write code primarily with coding agents, and review what they produce as critically as your own
- Turn failures found in real cases into tests and evaluations that keep them fixed
You may be a fit if
- You have 3+ years building and running production software
- You build with coding agents every day and know where they go wrong
- You care about correctness, and you test to prove it
- You are comfortable across a TypeScript, Postgres, and Next.js stack
Strong candidates may also
- Have built systems around large language models in production
- Have worked on document processing, data extraction, or financial data
- Have built evaluation suites for AI systems
- Have owned whole systems end to end on a small team
