Trace
Trace checks one line of a Statement of Net Worth against the evidence. It finds the value the evidence supports, compares it with what was filed, and records its reasoning and sources. Its results appear in Net worth analysis.
What Trace can do
- Read the evidence: the case's documents, what was read from them, and the transactions and cash flow of its accounts.
- Calculate: build a figure from exact sources, with the calculation shown so you can reproduce it.
- Value a property: find a property's Redfin page by its address and cite the dated estimate it shows. Mona saves the page with the estimate.
- Name what's missing: open a gap for a question only an outside document or person can answer.
- Write a separate property proof: prove one claim about its line as completely as the documents allow, and show where it's weak.
Trace reports what the evidence supports and the size of any difference. It explains a cause where the evidence shows one. Whether a difference matters, and what it means, is your call.
Checking a line with Trace
Click a line in Net worth analysis. A side panel opens on its Agent view, in a tab of its own, so you can keep several lines open. Before Trace has run, the panel shows Find this item's true value, with Trace's instructions already written in the message box. Change them if you want Trace to focus on something, then click send to start it.
You can keep working while it runs. The line's row updates as Trace goes, and the panel shows where it stands: Queued, Working, Waiting for your response when Trace has a question, or Failed. Trace and the Statement agent don't run on the same statement at once, so one may wait for the other.
You can also ask Mona to send Trace, and the results land in the same place.
Reading what Trace found
Click the line's status, or Details in the side panel. A dot on Agent or Details means something new is there.
- Difference: each field's declared value, Mona's value, the difference, and its status.
- Assessment: Trace's summary, then each field with its value and reasoning. Open a field's evidence line to see its sources, grouped as Supporting, Conflicting, and Excluded. Click a source to open it. See Evidence and citations.
- Declaration: what each filing says about this line.
A source marked stale has changed since Trace used it, and one marked unresolvable can no longer be found. Either sends the field to Cannot verify until Trace looks again.
Open gaps are questions only an outside document or person can answer, such as an appraisal of the home. A field with a gap and no value reads No supported value. To close a gap, add the document in Documents and message Trace to look again, or ask Mona to draft a discovery demand.
Correcting Trace
Trace's results reach the page as it makes them, with no approval step, so read them before you rely on them. You can't type over a value. To correct one, message Trace in the line's conversation: name the document to use or say what it missed.
